NICA comes to PA!

The last few weeks have been a whirlwind of activity as we’ve helped to lead the effort to get a National Interscholastic Cycling Association League off the ground here in PA. Launched officially at InterBike, the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Cycling League is up and running! To say we’re excited about this is an understatement. We are almost two years into creating the league…yea, you read that right, we are closing in on two years of building the organization behind the scenes to bring it to this point. And while the official launch is a wonderful thing, now the real work begins to build a state wide league that reflects the history of cycling in our state, the passion we have for cycling in the Commonwealth and the fantastic cycling communities that exist across PA.

We visited Allentown, State College, Harrisburg, Downingtown, and the Pittsburgh area multiple times over the last year as we’ve scouted potential venues across the state. We’ve connected with friends at PA based or affiliated companies like Bicycling, NoTubes, Fuji, QBP, Mid-Atlantic Timing, Humid Creative and more and found support everywhere we’ve looked. The Mid-Atlantic Super Series and some of the promoters in the series stepped up to help get this off the ground. We’re headed out to a Trail PGH event in a few weeks. It has been a fantastic trip so far and everywhere we go we meeting incredible people and seeing massive interest and support for the league and the goal of more PA kids on bikes.

Find out about the PA League, including info on coaching and how to get a team going in your area.
